SHAMAMA PERFUME
Shamama is a perfume that blends spices, herbs, woods, and resins to create a warm, spicy, amber, leathery, powdery scent with a note of incense-like oud, ideal for winter.
The Indians distill it for days, weeks, or even months, but I've done it my own way..
I load the Soxhlet apparatus with a mixture of spices and the flask with alcoholic tinctures of aromatic herbs, heating it until it reaches a balance at 80 degrees Celsius. At this temperature, I extract all the aromatic compounds from the spices, mainly cumin and pepper.
This spiced alcoholate is the heart of the perfume, to which I have added lavender from 1980 for a fresh top note. A generous amount of Bulgarian rose absolute and essential oil to shape the powdery heart.
The base is composed of 1940 oakmoss tincture, dark Indian patchouli, incense, Peru balsam, Fritzche Brothers cedar, and a generous amount of 1950 castoreum tincture.
The caps are handmade in my father's carpentry shop, using the finest quality iroko wood.
