SHAMAMA PERFUME

Shamama is a perfume that combines spices, herbs, woods and resins to create a warm, spicy, ambery, leathery and powdery fragrance with an oud note similar to incense, ideal for winter.

The Indians distill it for days, weeks or even months, but I've done it my way.

I load the Soxhlet apparatus with a spice mixture and the flask with alcoholic tinctures of aromatic herbs, heating it until it reaches equilibrium at 80 degrees Celsius. At this temperature, I extract all the aromatic compounds from the spices, primarily cumin and pepper.

This spiced alcoholate is the heart of the perfume, to which I've added 1980s lavender for a fresh top note. A generous amount of absolute and Bulgarian rose essential oil shapes the powdery heart.

The base is composed of 1940 oakmoss tincture, dark Indian patchouli, frankincense, Peru balsam, Fritzche Brothers cedarwood, and a generous amount of 1950 castoreum tincture.

The stoppers are handmade in my father's carpentry workshop, using the finest quality iroko wood.
