Shamama III

To my previous spice distillation on the shoxlet apparatus using juniper and coriander flavoured gin I have added a year-old macerated tincture of Royal Green Hojari, Myrrh, Styrax, Benzoin, Copal and Labdanum.

It also contains La Mancha saffron tincture, one of the best in the world, if not the best. Another essential tincture is vintage castor, which makes up almost 5% of the mixture. It's a very gentle, non-fecal castor tincture with a very pronounced leathery undertone.

To the tincture mixture, I added sandalwood essential oil from Nepal, Virginia cedar, and patchouli absolute. It also includes a few drops of my Alkal-oud perfume, a blend of my top 10 ouds from China, Cambodia, and Malaysia with my selection of roses from Turkey, Malaysia, Bulgaria, and Taif. In this perfume, I was searching for the lost alkaloid in oud that makes us so addicted to it.

Madagascar vanilla could not be missing in this mix, a CO2 extract that changed my paradigm with vanilla. It is a raw, earthy and woody vanilla, nothing to do with the typical vanilla smell of desserts.

This is version number 3. In this new version, I've added a dry distillation of Cistus ladaniferus, which gives it an amber, incense-like note. I've also added Boswelia carteri heart essential oil. This incense has been double-distilled to remove the terpene and leave only the heart, giving the fragrance its fresh, resinous notes. More castor oil and a little less vanilla than in my version 2.
