Absolute Hay – Grasse, France | The wild sweetness of the earth - Anthoxanthum odoratum
Freshly mown field. Green sweetness. Memory of the sun.
This absolute hay, grown and harvested in the Grasse region, is more than just an ingredient: it's a bottled fragment of the French countryside. Its certificate of origin not only guarantees its quality, but also its soul.
Nothing evokes peace like the scent of freshly cut grass. This hay captures it all: the breeze rustling the leaves, the warm earth breathing, the fading afternoon among golden fields.
Its profile is intensely sweet. The high coumarin content gives it notes reminiscent of thick honey, vanilla, and artisanal caramel.
There's a distant echo of blond tobacco, of cocoa hidden among the fibers. It's relaxing, enveloping, profound.
Used in small amounts, it imparts a natural, organic air that transforms and rounds out any accord. In larger doses, it becomes the warm heart of gourmand compositions, evoking dark chocolate, dried grass, and vegetal sweetness.
It's very intense, very dense. I recommend working with dilutions of 10% or less. In alcohol, its texture softens and opens up. In its purest form, it's wild.
It's not a scent, it's a whole scene.
